Week 1, Thing # 2, Lifelong Learning Habits

Lifelong learning is acquiring a new skill or knowledge throughout one's lifetime. Thus, it's never too early nor too late to start learning.

7 ½ Habits of Highly Successful Lifelong Learners

Habit 1: Begin with the end in mind
            - determine what your goal will be
Habit 2: Accept responsibility for your own learning
            - value and take pride in learning & accomplishments
Habit 3: View problems as challenges
            - life events can provide powerful motivation & opportunities to
              learn
Habit 4: Have confidence in yourself as a competent, effective learner
            - start from learning the basics
Habit 5: Create your own learning toolbox
           - tools that are useful : books, technology, classes, mentors,
             friends, web pages
Habit 6: Use technology to your advantage
           - a tool that should be used to make life easier; use it to help in
             learning
Habit 7: Teach/mentor others
          - best way to learn something; good way to reinforce learning as
well as to give back to the community
Habit 7 ½: Play
          - most important; important for learning & brain development

Of the above habits,
Habit 3: View problems as challenges is the hardest for me because I encountered alot of ups and downs in my life. I need to overcome the downs in my life events, learn the lessons and become a better person.
Habit 6: Use technology to your advantage is the easiest for me because technology had become part of our everyday life. Right now, I'm using it in my learning of web 2.0.
