Week 9, Thing # 23, Copyright & Creative Commons

:) I've finally reached the 23rd thing..

In the school library and classroom, we are often faced with copyright challenges of when it is acceptable to copy something and how much of an item [book, website, music, video, etc.] we can copy.

Although we can freely exchange information, but we need to know the responsibility of how we share it, and how we give credit to the author of that information.

- “A Fair(y) Use Tale” video - learn some history of copyright..

- Creative Commons is a copyright license that allows us to choose to share our intellectual property.
There's a book titled "Creative Commons: Non-profit organization, Creativity, Copyright, License, Creative Commons licenses, Waiver, Creative Commons International, Copyleft" [it'll be in our library collection soon].

  • add my blog URL to my e-mail signature line
  • re-purpose it as my school library blog
  • share it with my colleagues
  • start a NEW blog or wiki
  • apart from School Library Learning 2.0 for librarians
  • [i learn this as i was working in the library], there's Classroom Learning 2.0 for teachers and Learning 2.0 for teens
